🌸 Choosing Your Medium: A Guide to Colour and Texture in Memorial Jewellery
Each piece I create is a quiet tribute — a way to hold memory close. Whether you’re honouring a loved one, preserving wedding petals, or marking a tender moment, the medium you choose can shape the emotional tone of your keepsake. Below is a gentle guide to help you explore the options:
Colour is always optional. Some families prefer their ashes jewellery to remain natural, with no added pigments or shimmer. If that feels right for you, simply choose ‘no added colour’.
✨ Mica Powder
Soft shimmer with subtle depth.
Mica powder adds a gentle, pearlescent glow to your piece. It’s ideal for those who want a quiet radiance — something that catches the light without overwhelming the memory it holds. Available in soft pinks, blues, silvers, and more, mica can evoke warmth, calm, or celebration. Can have extra shimmer added or diamond dust. I have added made samples next to each colour on the chart to give a rough guide on how the colours vary once added to resin.
Suitable for: Most jewellery settings
This heart is made with "Green" with some Diamond Dust added.
✨ Glitters
Playful sparkle with emotional depth
Glitter adds a touch of magic — a playful shimmer that can feel joyful, whimsical, or quietly radiant. Available in fine or chunky textures, glitter can be layered to reflect celebration, remembrance, or the unique personality of the person or moment being honoured.
Suitable for : most jewellery items, may not suit small channel rings.
This is glitter No. 22.
🌟 Metallic Foil Flakes
Reflective and expressive
Foil flakes bring texture and sparkle, often used to highlight preserved flowers or ashes. Gold, silver, rose gold, and copper tones can add richness and contrast — perfect for those who want a piece that feels celebratory, regal, or deeply personal.
Suitable for larger items such as pendants, bracelets, charms and keyrings.
This men's signet ring is made with "Midnight Sky".
💎 Crushed Opals
Vibrant, ethereal colour.
Crushed opals offer a luminous, shifting colour palette — from fiery reds to ocean blues. They’re ideal for pieces that honour bold personalities or vivid memories. Each fragment catches the light differently, creating a sense of movement and life.
Suitable for: fine opals are lovely in rings and other smaller pieces of jewellery.
This ladies' ring is made "Ruby Red".
🧊 Crushed Glitter Glass Flakes
Clear, crisp brilliance.
Crushed glass flakes bring clarity and sparkle, often used to evoke purity, reflection, or quiet strength. They pair beautifully with ashes allowing the elements to shine through while adding a gentle glimmer.
This is "Amethyst". Diamond dust can be added to this too.
💠 Diamond Dust
Subtle brilliance with timeless grace.
Diamond dust brings a delicate sparkle to your piece — a whisper of light that catches the eye without overpowering the memory it holds. It’s often chosen to honour enduring love, quiet strength, or a sense of sacredness. When paired with mica, glitter, or crushed opals, it adds a layer of refinement and depth.
